The World is More Beautiful.

I’m playing along with the pick-a-stick challenge group on Facebook. If you’re interested, you should check out the Facebook group.

The journal challenge for January (there’s also an ATC):

I haven’t done my ATC yet, but I had a lot of fun creating my journal page.

The stars are cut from a really old map of LA. I’m a total space nerd, and stargazing is another hobby of mine. I didn’t have any wood shapes, so I created a pocket with the wildcard. The splatters are coffee.

This is what it looks like with the extension closed.

Seriously, it’s a lot of fun. You should play along.

January Mission Inspiration

I am participating in Mission Inspiration for 2017. It’s a fun art journal challenge hosted by Mike Deakin. There is a Facebook group and people post really great photos of their pages. The January 2017 challenge is as follows:

I don’t receive much junk mail, but one lone junk mail card came in the post- huzzah! I decided to use it for both my torn fragments of junk mail and my focal image. I also gave myself a time limit of under 20 minutes.

Very much outside my comfort zone, but it was a lot of fun. If you’re interested in playing along, you should check out the Facebook group, and you can find more information on Mike Deakin’s YouTube channel.

Hope you’re having a lovely day!

Happy National Bird Day!

Today is National Bird Day– you should check out the clicky link for more information.

I wanted to call attention to the day, I needed a thank you card, and I had these super sweet stamps from Purple Onion Designs… so, there ya go.

I used inktense pencils and pan watercolor, and then added some detail with colored pencils and a white gel pen. The wonky stitches rectangle die is a fantastical set I picked up at Kat Scrappiness

It’s a pretty simple card, but I really enjoyed making it. I think sometimes it’s easy to intimidate yourself out of making, because you don’t think you’re capable of creating perfection, or you don’t have all the supplies you see other people using.

I am a singularly imperfect maker, but I always have fun, and that is what matters.

Hope you’re having a fun 2017!
